As the disease progresses, tumor cells undergo dynamic phenotypic changes, which require metabolic adaptations to meet their changing metabolic requirements. Moreover, both cell-intrinsic and microenvironment-influenced factors intensify heterogenic metabolic reprogramming in tumor cells to fuel growth, invasion, and survival. I will discuss how this heterogeneity of cancer metabolism impacts tumor progression as well as its therapeutic implications.
